Got an idea you would like us to work on?
Usability is so often seen as a topic without one clear definition, with several interpretations. This is understandable when usability can apply to so many different things, from how usable our new bread knife is, to how usable a website is.
So for the purpose of this page, we will define usability in relation to websites.
Usability is therefore the ease with which your website visitors complete their intended goals.
These goals are co-aligned goals set by you and the user, such as making an enquiry about a membership or downloading the latest sector whitepaper or research.
Good usability is therefore allowing your users to complete their goal with the greatest efficiency, shortest amount of time or fewest clicks. Good usability for you as a website owner is focused on this, balanced slightly with achieving your own goals and objectives, such as collecting website visitor data while they complete their task, by providing an email form.
