Why Mobile Friendly Websites are Indispensable!

As mobile internet usage increases the question is not whether you need a mobile website but when?!

Mobile search on Google accounts for 33% – a third of Google’s entire search, this figure has increased x5 in the last 2 years.

If you’re a company that can offer services locally to your customers, I recommend that you join Google Places and Google Adwords and that you create geo-specific adverts for your audience.

  • Local targeting is so important as a recent Google UK survey found that;
  • 60% of mobile users search for product info
  • 37% of mobile users search for restaurants, pubs and bars
  • 29% of mobile users search for travel info

As smartphones and tablets are increasingly accompanying us no matter where we go – they are becoming our new shopping partner, our new shopping friend!

The buying process has evolved to checking prices, verifying processes and making sure we are getting the best deal.

Know what device people are using to browse the web, when and where – makes it easier for you to target your audience by device and time of day.

We know all of this, we know that mobile, tablet and desktop search is different. What we don’t know is why we should pay attention to this….

What you need to consider is that people are using different search means, they are judging them differently and that it’s no longer acceptable to offer your customers a poor mobile experience!

The fact of the matter is people will judge your entire business on the medium that they have used to search – whether you have a customer service or a brochure site – expectations have changed.

Did you know?

  • 57% won’t recommend a business after a poor mobile experience.
  • 40% have turned to a competitor as a result

Mobile optimization can increase sales, generate more traffic, and boost customer engagement. One of the most notable difference is the number of sponsored ads in the SERPS.

Having two, opposed to three sponsored ads, makes Google ads more competitive but the implications of not bidding competitively are damming – CTR drops 90% when ads are below the fold!

What to take away;

Smartphones and tablet devices have become an indispensable part of our daily lives. They have transformed consumer behaviour and help us navigate the world.

It is paramount that we include mobile website functionality and targeted mobile advertising as part of our marketing strategy to meet the demand and expectations of our customer.
