2015 - A Year of Challenges and Triumphs

Intergage has enjoyed its first full year as a full service marketing agency in 2015. We've been learning lessons, evolving fast and have positioned ourselves for an exciting 2016.

Digital marketing remains at the heart of what we do. We are a full service marketing agency with a digital heart. We have always been in the place where marketing and technology meet. That will continue to be at our core.

What we have learned - above all - is that in our changing world a business is not merely defined by its profit and loss and balance sheet reports. It's what a company stands for, how it interacts with its 'tribe' and its sense of purpose that sets it apart and gives it momentum.

We are in an era of intense competition and change. In almost every industry, companies and their leaders must have to have a powerful sense of purpose and be able to articulate the 'why?' of their businesses as elegantly as what they do, how they do it and for whom they do it. Exactly what you do and how you do it may well have to change in the future whereas the 'why? is the core of your corporate being.

The marketing journey concept we came up with in 2014 has proven to be a popular way to explain marketing in a growing organisation. It received hugely positive feedback and acclaim in 2015.

The first quadrant of that journey is without doubt the most important. I've heard mission, vision and values described as 'marketing bollocks' more than once.

But in my experience there is nothing more important than knowing why you get out of bed in the morning, having a clear idea about what the future looks like (and why you are well placed in that future) - and being able to state clearly and elegantly what you stand for, beyond the obvious hygiene factors of honesty, integrity and professionalism.

Almost every business that has momentum has these things in spades. Marketing is also about understanding your tribe - who they are, where they hang out, what they are passionate and concerned about and why they should regard your brand as a badge their tribe wears with pride.

Marketing tactics will start changing in 2016 for SMEs as the discipline of marketing has evolved to become ever more broad and sophisticated. Having separate websites, blogs, analytics, social media management, email and CRM systems will no longer be good enough. Marketers need integrated systems that provide them with extra arms and legs. Intergage will be there - where marketing and technology meet - just as we always have been. You can expect us to be talking more and more about sales and marketing automations systems and tools in 2016.

Finally, as ever, I end by thanking all of our tribe - those loyal and passionate Intergagers past and present who have helped this business along its journey and the wonderful customers - the special ones we have chosen to work with, those who believe in what we do and how we think. Above all they understand that their success is genuinely our 'why'.

There is nothing we enjoy more than using the magic of marketing to make our customers' businesses work better so they can grow and create wealth and happiness in our community.

Happy 2016. Let's kick arse...
